I was lucky to be introduced to this style of bodywork in 1997 during my initial professional massage training with Ruth Smith. After seeing the benefits that my clients experienced from these rhythmic movement bodywork techniques I simply had to learn more. I completed post graduate studies with Guy Gladstone (Psychotherapist at The Open Centre & Humanistic Psychology Practitioner at Bodyspace) & qualified in 2004. I am registered as a Pulsing Practitioner with www.pulsing.org.uk. This website also has some good information & articles for further reading if you'd like to know more about the subject.

Although not generally widely know, Pulsing has been around since the 70's. It was developed by Curtis Turchin, after he saw demonstrations by Dr Milton Trager (founder of the Trager Approach) at the Esalen Institute.
Often called the ‘Tai-Chi’ of massage, this treatment combines pressure & movements (of stretching, lifting, shaking, swinging, bouncing & rotating) with a continuous, flowing rhythmic rocking. The speed & strength of these movements may vary but there is always an emphasis on support, nurturing & gently encouraging liberation of constrictions held within the body & Mind.
Treatment is performed fully clothed on the massage table & you are encouraged to be passive & allow the body to relax into the movements. It's advisable to wear loose comfortable clothing to a treatment session.
Rocking & Pulsing therapy helps us to become more aware & mindful about our areas of muscular tension & habitual protective patterns of holding. It promotes release of physical tensions & improves circulation, movement, flexibility, energy flow, well-being & vitality.
Pulsing also works on a somatic level, kind of like a body psychotherapy, & may facilitate gentle release of embodied emotions & psychological stress. Additionally for some it's a meditative experience that connects the body with the deeper inner & holistic self.
